size issues July 10, 2010 J. Staebler-Kimmel Spanx's size chart is total crap. I'm 5'1" and 185, in the very top of the D range. The product looked so ridiculously small when I got it that I measured the maximum stretch just above the crotch: it stretched, at the most, to my thigh measurement. I wouldn't be able to get them over my knees, let alone my butt. Here's hoping the merchant accepts the return.
So, a word of warning: even if you think you're being realistic based on the size chart, you'll definitely need to get (at least) the next size up if you're toward the top edge of the chart.
Careful bootyliscious ladies!! June 17, 2010 M. MacDonald (California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I went in to Lane Bryant and picked up a pair of these. The ladies there seemed very helpful in talking me into them and the best way to get them on/off along with advice for keeping them up (tuck the top under your bra). However (even while looking at me) they didn't warn me that they are NOT big booty and thigh friendly. I'm 5'10" and weigh about 200 lbs - which makes me a solid D according to the size chart - but most of my weight is in my big butt and thick thighs. I couldn't even get them up past mid-thigh. No slimming + wated money = very disappionted.
Took an inch off my hips May 12, 2010 Parisgreen (NY) These do work! They really do slim a good inch off. My only issue with them is they are a tad long and I'm 5'9" so I can't imagine how big they are on someone shorter than myself. I bought them to go with a dress that is knee length, however there is a slit in the back which when I walk means you can see the Spanx which is unfortunately not the look I was going for. These are perfect for a longer dress though.
Really? Girdles again. April 22, 2010 M. Groesse (Pacific Beach, WA) I hate that I thought I had to wear one of these. It did what it said it would. And really it was more comfortable than the ones I wore in the 70's. But still it was not comfortable, just more comfortable than the older version.
not going to work for me April 10, 2010 fantopia 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
It seems to shape ok, but what I couldn't see in the pictures is that there is a panty hose-like seam that runs up and down the middle front. This seam creates a bump and becomes a squiggly line if it is at all falling down. It seems to fall down a little bit very easily, just enough to keep the seam line from being straight. I'm going to have to find something else to wear under my wedding dress.
